Small Steps for BIG Dreams Walkathon
On October 30, LFCS will be hosting our "Small Steps for BIG Dreams" Walkathon event! This year, our goal is to raise $10,000 which will be used for many school projects and programs benefitting ALL of our students.
Our students and staff will be participating in a variety of fun, easy, and healthy activities that can be incorporated right into the classroom or anywhere throughout the school day. Every Friday we will have a weekly challenge to inspire, motivate and get students super excited about completing the big event– Walkathon. These challenges give students the freedom to participate in a number of fitness activities and games in addition to the walk.
Our first challenge is this Friday, October 9 with our Biking challenge: Students will bring their bike or scooter to school and participate in a challenge with their classmates.
October 16 - Nature Exploration challenge: Students bring a change of clothes, rain boots or anything needed (because we are going to get dirty) for a day of exploring the outdoors! Rain or shine we are going outside.
October 23 - Basketball challenge: dribble or shoot the ball into the hoop.
October 30 - Walk-A-Thon and Celebration Day! The event will take place during the school day from 9:30 am - 12 pm outside and is designed to engage the entire school community, including teachers, administrators, students and parents.
How do participants raise money?
Students are asked to seek donations from family, friends and neighbors. Donations can be made online or by check or cash in any amount desired. Remember that every penny counts and 100% of the money raised will stay at our school.
What is the money raised being used for?
$10,000 is essential to meet our operational needs and balance our budget this year. Our budget includes items such as books, equipment, salaries, and safety related items due to COVID-19 – everything necessary to educate our students. But we need your help! We have a big goal and we can’t accomplish it alone!
All donations are tax deductible. Donors will get a receipt for their donation for their tax records. Students and classes will also have an opportunity to earn a number of prizes and awards based on their participation in the Walkathon. Below is a list of what they can earn:
Incentives: Every student will receive a special tie dye shirt for their participation in the Walkathon.
Students who raise $50 – will receive a goodie bag with stickers & other fun items.
Students who raise $100 – will receive an ice cream voucher.
Students who raise $150 - will receive a special lunch with Ms. Jennifer (provided by the school).
Students who raise $200 – will receive a voucher to redeem at the prize redemption store & voucher for dress down day of their choice.
Students who raise $250 or more - choice of 2 of the above prizes.
Classroom Competitions – The class that raises the most money per student average will receive a special virtual field trip and ice cream party.
